"We envision an America where respite is readily available and easily accessible to all caregivers."
~ Lifespan Respite Task Force

Sometimes what you need is a date night, or to get away for a break, or you may need support for your child while you take care of important family business. Respite is a frequently requested and needed family support service. It is designed to address the needs of all families in a way that is sensitive to the individual needs of each family situation. It is recommended that families seek out respite as a preventative strategy. Taking a break can help to regain strength and protect the health and well being of everyone in the family network. Respite is an important component of a continuum of comprehensive family support services. It should be available to families not only on a planned basis, but also in emergency situations.
